Boho Side Braid

Maybe I should have paid more attention at girls camp when all of the other girls where learning how to braid their hair.  I'm not exactly the woodsy camping type but I did manage to pick up the easy-basic, cross right over left, switch and repeat braid...but thats it.

Seeing this look on the red carpet made me want to take it one step further to achieve this carefree boho hairstyle, especially on those days where I skip on washing my hair.  This look will be big this spring, keep an eye out!

IN-Style Magazine shares tips on how to achieve this look:

• Start with dry hair that is completely knot-free.
• Create a deep side part with your fingers—not a comb. This is important to facilitate a more undone look and help you stay away from anything too severe.
• Pull all of your hair over one shoulder and braid to the side. If you can create a French braid, like Rachel McAdams, do! If not, no worries. A simple plait still works.
• Fasten with a clear elastic, and leave out wispy pieces to frame the face.

Couldn't decide, so I got them all...

Went on a makeup trip today. My mission...finding the perfect eyeliner. Not too thick, not too harsh, not too cheap, smudgy, glittery or opaque and most importantly, not too hard to wash off at the end of the day. Sephora had some excellent colors to choose from but I simply could not decide which direction I wanted to go.  Smokey? Sultry? Simple? Safe? There were way too many choices.  Then, I found the perfect kit.
It had a little bit of everything all in one package.  Five different, yet neutral, color combinations that can go from nine to five and then bump it up to a seven o'clock hot date! So far, I absolutely love the Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on eye pencil travel set of five- NAKED
Set includes:
Zero-black
Demolition-dark brown
Bourbon- glimmer dark brown
Underground- metallic taupe
Stray Dog- silvery taupe

The Secret of the Week

3 Utah Shops You Won't Want to Miss!
Little boutiques are popping up all over the place these days.  They are a great way to find unique items that will diversify your wardrobe. How do you know where the good ones are, without wasting an entire day driving around town? We did some looking around and here are some shops that are worth checking out...

This is a fun little shop that sells clothing, accessories, jewelry and home decor.  176 Spencer Peak Way Draper Utah 84020.
Down East Basics
They have cute belts and accessories along with fun summer dresses and skirts. I prefer the selection that they carry over at the Fashion Place Mall over their Utah County shops. Fashion Place Mall 6191 South State Street in Murray
Bohme Boutique
This place likes glitz and bling, but if you are in the mood for something more subtle, they have complementary  pieces that work.  My favorite thing is that they offer the best customer service, similar to Nordsrom.  They do custom tailoring on jeans so that every pair fits perfectly!!!! They are located in every Utah mall, Fashion Place, Gateway, University, Red Cliffs etc.

Bonus: If you are a bargain shopper, like me, checkout: Nordstrom Rack 10379 South State Street in Sandy or  2236 South 1300 East in Sugarhouse

Disco hairstyles are back?

Recently, I was working on a TV show where I had a hair and makeup artist prep me for the shoot.  I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like.  I was thinking maybe Eva Longoria's red carpet locks or even J-Lo's American Idol waves.  When the finished product was done, it was...well...very disco looking.  I wasnt thrilled but thats the look they were going for on that particular shoot.  My friend said it looked like I was wearing a bumpit! Shoot, for that I would have to give Disco hairstyles a thumbs down. Sorry InStyle mag, but I respectfully disagree on the Disco Do making a twenty-eleven comeback! InStyle Magazine
